FOOD SECURITY
Sustainable Harvests and Livelihoods Through Climate-Smart Sustainable Agriculture.
About this Program
The program integrates sustainable farming techniques like permaculture, regenerative agricultural practices with community empowerment strategies to mitigate climate change impacts and enhance resilience.
Our
Agenda
Our aim is promoting climate-smart agricultural practices while improving livelihoods in rural communities targeting smallholder farmers.
Climate-Smart Agriculture
Agroforestry, crop rotation, water-efficient irrigation, and soil conservation. Promoting practices like simple bucket or drum irrigation, water harvesting and implementing permaculture principles.
Livelihood Diversification
Beekeeping, poultry farming, Bull fattening and Dairy farming. In rural areas where we work where land is divided among family members through inheritance. The average farm size continues to decrease, making it challenging for farmers to achieve economies of scale
Community Engagement
Participation and ownership through farmer groups and cooperatives formation and empowerment
Access to resources
Quality seeds, organic fertilizers, and tools, ensuring farmers have the necessary resources to implement sustainable farming techniques effectively.
Market Linkages
Value addition opportunities for agricultural produce to enhance income and reduce post-harvest losses for the farmers that we work with.
